Hippy Hill Dead Fest 2021

This was the first year I attended the Dead Fest at Bill Monroe Music and Campground. I had no idea what to expect.

What I didn’t expect was to walk into the camp office when I first got there and meet a cool guy named Kendrick who also had a skoolie. It was beautiful with an amazing paint job on the back honoring his parents who had passed on.

I set up shop again. I never know what’s going to sell; it’s always a gamble and every festival is different. My painted rocks were a huge hit; people seem to love them at all festivals. I sold around 30-35 at this festival. I love painting rocks, it’s definitely addicting. Sadly, they are so heavy and quite a pain to pack, store, unload, etc. I should’ve chosen a lighter craft. I have about 110 rocks left and once they are gone, I’m done painting them to sell. Unfortunately, due to nerve damage in my hand, my painting days may be over or at least temporarily. I hope and pray the nerve issue is healed soon but even so, I’ll only paint for gifts or special requests.

My great friends, Blake and Tammy drove Lil Gypsy for me but sadly they had to leave very soon after they helped me get all my vending stuff unloaded. From there, I was on my own.

As always at every festival, I meet the coolest, kindest people on the planet. First up was a group of skoolie owners parked across from me. Dan, Dustin & Amy, Nick and Kendrick and an old friend, Gilmore. They were such a huge help to me. They helped me unload my golf cart and come to find out, I sort of knew of Dustin since he owns the only wrecker service that I will allow to tow my VW bus. He had just towed it to the shop for a new fuel pump a few days before the festival so I teased him that I paid his way to the festival. LOL These guys also helped me pack all my stuff back in the bus after the festival, loaded my cart and Gilmore drove Lil Gypsy back home for me. I’m telling you, there are no strangers at any festival. It’s an entirely different world of peace, love and helping each other. Nothing more…………..nothing less!

If you know me much at all, follow me on social media or have got to know me thru my blogs, you all know how much I love buses………all buses; I have 3 different kinds of buses myself. I just love to cruise around the campground looking at buses and chatting with the owners. So many styles, so many ideas, colors, paint schemes, interior designs……………..all so cool!

I always hate the end of festival time, the time I have to go back to the real world of evil, hatefulness, uncertain times, scary moments and people who are all about themselves. Next year the Dead Fest will be four days instead of two and I’ve already booked my spot!
