Hocking Hills Never Disappoints

WOW………………Hippie Fest 2021 in Hocking Hills, OH. What an incredible weekend. I have to say this was probably the best festival yet. They’re all good but this one was special for a few different reasons.

First up was seeing my great friends, Ben and Suzi, who I haven’t seen in 2 years. They live in their bus. I also got to meet their best friends who also came in Ben and Suzi’s bus. We were lucky enough to be parked side by side at the festival entrance. We got to see every single person who attended that weekend. It was great. We made a pretty good greeting team! We met some great people and the Geriatric Gypsy gained many fans and hundreds of bus pictures were taken.

The absolute funniest thing was the windshield sun shade I put up in the bus. It went perfect with the bus name, Geriatric Gypsy. Everyone thought it was hilarious! The Golden Girls is one of my favorite shows; who doesn’t love Betty White? I want to be Sophia when I get old! LOL

One of the absolute coolest things that happened was…………………….the festival was coming to a close and a couple approached me and said they had planned to renew their vows at the festival that day. Sadly they couldn’t find a private, secluded spot to do so. They asked if they could go on top of my bus and if I could take some pictures. They each had a little notebook that I assumed were the vows they had written to each other. The young man was very emotional and you could see the love in their eyes as they looked at each other. It was a precious moment that I was honored to be a small part of. I will never forget this.

As with all festival, there are people of all walks of life, people of all ages. The youngest hippie award goes to this little doll who was totally into my bus. She didn’t want to leave and was not happy until she was sitting in the drivers seat.

Next was this proud 83 year old beauty. She was so put together; everything matched. She had a great time at the festival, I saw her several times and wherever she went, she got the attention of everyone around her. She was a hoot and a pleasure to meet.

Buses buses and more buses. Buses are my favorite thing. Oh if only I were rich. Most women would choose a huge house, pool, fancy car and clothes. I would have the biggest pole barn money could buy and it would be full of buses.

My favorite would be the 13 window, split window; the older the better, I suppose but I wouldn’t turn any bus away.

I have a 1982 VW Vanagon Westfalia and although it’s my least favorite body style, at least I have a VW bus. Like I said, I love them all.
