The first year I had the Geriatric Gypsy I was lucky enough to attend three festivals and multiple camp outs. The first festival was the John Hartford Festival in Brown County, IN. I have attended this festival many times but always camped in my vintage camper. This year the Geriatric Gypsy made its debut and was a huge hit. So many people stopped by to take a peak.
Next up was a hippie festival in Hocking Hills, OH and needless to say, my bus was the life of the party, so to speak. They gave me prime parking at the festival entrance.
I entered the car show just for fun. I was up against VW Bugs and VW Buses but The Geriatric Gypsy was one of a kind, the only skoolie in the contest. I was totally surprised and shocked that I won “Most Outlandish”.
Next stop, a few months later, was another hippie fest in Angola, IN.
Once again, I entered the car show and won “Most Psychedelic”.
I have met so many awesome people and a few will, no doubt, become lifelong friends
Just like the song says…………..Imagine all the people, livin’ for today. Imagine all the people, livin’ life in peace. Imagine all the people, sharing all the world. You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one. I do hope, dream and pray for a world this peaceful.
There were thousands of people at these festivals; all there to have fun, spread peace and happiness and love each other. People from all walks of life, all come together for the good of each other, to help each other, if needed, support the vendors and small businesses, share stories, hang out and just be themselves without judgment from anyone. There were no fights or drunken brawls, no one trippin on drugs. These are free spirits who are comfortable in their own skin, real, down to earth folks. Imagine all the people! It’s actually hard to leave and go back to the reality of all the hate, scariness, ugliness, jealousy, judgment and violence in this world today
I do wish everyone could someday attend one of these festivals and see for themselves just how awesome it is. Hope to see you there!
